Founded at the end of 1982, Naviera Tamaulipas started its operations in 1984 with its first supply vessel in delivering the offshore oil industry. The development of the company goes hand in hand with the Mexican oil industry, resulting in the constant growth of the Naviera Tamaulipas fleet. Today, the company offers its clients a fleet of 23 vessels of different categories. In January 2006, in order to consolidate their positions in the Gulf of Mexico and widen their horizon of opportunities, Naviera Tamaulipas and the French company BOURBON combined their forces into a joint-venture. In may 2007, the social name changed to Naviera Bourbon Tamaulipas.
